Burton Morewood C of E School is situated in the village of Burton in Kendal, serving the village and the local area. As a school we follow a Christian ethos and as our mission statement shows we believe that our children only come this way once, so we should scatter their path with qualtiy experiences.
Children are taught in single age year groups, with Numeracy and Literacy being taught in a morning. Two afternoons a week, our teachers' specialist subjects are utilised and children are taught by another member of staff within the school.
Each day children participate in whole school or class assemblies. We are lucky to have a strong link with our local church, St. James's, and welcome the minister each week to share in our whole school Wednesday assembly. Our Friday afternoon assembly is for children to show their work to the rest of the school and their parents. Please see dates or the monthly newsletter for details of when you childs show assembly is.
In Key Stage One, Friday mornings are a special time. The children split into mixed age groups (a mix of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children) and complete a rotation of activties. These activities include cooking/baking, ICT, Literacy and gardening. Often the food grown in school is used in the baking activities. The older children thoroughly enjoy supporting the younger children in these exciting activities.
